Using this program is equivalent to pressing PRINT SCREEN to take a screenshot of your monitor. :)Īnd to anybody questioning the legality of this kind of program, it is 100% legal. Obviously you don't have to answer these questions if you don't want to, but I would be interested. How are the clues stored? Are they in a text file or are they in a compact/mobile database?

How long did it take you to write the program? Create the assets? I don't know which method would be more expensive, as I've not worked with image to text before, but I do know you can easily add coordinate clues because you're comparing pixels, not searching through "possible" text. Have you considered comparing actual screenshots instead of pulling text from the image (I'm assuming bitmap)? As in, having screenshots of clues stored in the app itself and comparing the pixels in the screenshots. Even world map and 3D world screenshots can be stored in sprite sheets. It's really neat, and I like that you've put in so much effort into making it look nice and be very convenient.Īre the assets stored in sprite sheets? Using sprite sheets may reduce file sizes. Seeing this made me write something up myself. I know theres a few tools of this nature so be sure to let me know if this one isn't required.

Much quicker than typing coordinates and anagrams etc into thirdparty websites. I'd like to know if people feel this tool is useful enough to release. The program itself is multithreaded and totals about a 30mb download (filesize is due to assets such as the world map being ~5mb alone).īelow are a few screenshots of the program in action. In the case of coordinate based clues the text is edited using Regex as it sometimes mistakes zeros for o's. It then matches the text to the clues and shows the results. The program creates a screenshot then enlarges it for easier reading of the text. Every clue has a local screenshot from the wiki and a map view I coded myself. The way it works is you hover the program over the cluescroll so you can see the text through the view port, then you press a button and it will tell you where to go or what todo. The program can solve any text based clue (I do have a version with maps but the api used is quite large resulting in a 550mb+ download). The program I made does not interact with the game at all and is 100% legal. Hello, I made myself a clue solving program and was trying to gauge any kind of interest for a public release. One thing I'd like to know is would you guys rather have an installer or just have the program zipped? I will probably have a release candidate within a week. EDIT Theres a good chance I will release this due to more feedback than expected.
